Step 1: Install and Launch the Plex App Before you can change the playback settings, you need to have the Plex app installed on your Xbox console. If you haven’t done so already, follow these steps:
- From the Xbox home screen, navigate to the “Store” section.
- Search for “Plex” in the search bar.
- Select the Plex app from the search results and click “Install” or “Get.”
- Once installed, launch the Plex app from your Xbox home screen or “My games & apps” section.
Step 2: Sign in to Your Plex Account If you’re not signed in to your Plex account, do so now. Enter your Plex account credentials or use the activation code provided to link your account.
Step 3: Access the Plex Settings
- From the Plex home screen on your Xbox console, navigate to the left-side menu and select “Settings” (represented by a gear icon).
- Scroll down and find the “Video” section within the settings.
Step 4: Change Video Quality Settings
- In the “Video” settings, you’ll find options to adjust the quality for both local and remote content. Local content refers to media stored on your home network, while remote content refers to media accessed from outside your home network.
- To change the quality for local content, select “Local Quality” and choose from the available options. We recommend using “Original” for the best quality, but you can opt for lower settings if you experience buffering or have a slower network connection.
- To change the quality for remote content, select “Remote Quality” and choose from the available options. Adjust this setting based on your internet connection’s speed and stability.
Step 5: Adjust Audio Settings
- In the “Settings” menu, navigate to the “Audio” section.
- Here, you can enable or disable “Direct Play” and “Direct Stream” options. Enabling these options allows Plex to play the original audio format without transcoding, which can result in better audio quality. Disable these options if you experience playback issues.
- You can also select your preferred audio language and subtitle language in this section.
Step 6: Customize Subtitle Settings
- In the “Settings” menu, navigate to the “Subtitles” section.
- Here, you can adjust the appearance of subtitles, including font, size, and color. You can also enable or disable “Burn Subtitles,” which determines whether subtitles are rendered as part of the video or displayed separately.
Step 7: Save Your Changes Once you’ve made your desired adjustments, simply exit the settings menu. Your changes will be saved automatically, and you can now enjoy your Plex content with your customized playback settings.
