SimpleQR
A free simple QR code generator for when you just need the square to point at the thing.
SimpleQR is the straightforward version of a QR tool: paste a URL or text, generate the code, download it, and get back to whatever you were actually doing. No accounts, no tracking wrappers, and no campaign dashboard around a basic QR code.

What it is
SimpleQR is a small browser utility for generating direct QR codes from URLs or plain text. It is meant for normal use cases: a poster, a handout, a note, a classroom link, a quick internal sign, or the hundred other moments where a QR code is useful and the web somehow manages to make it complicated.
The important bit is that the generated code points to what you gave it. SimpleQR is not quietly replacing your link with a passthrough URL, collecting analytics, or holding the useful part behind a signup form.
Why it exists
QR generators are one of those tiny web tasks that attracted a surprising amount of clutter: subscription prompts, watermarks, short-link wrappers, premium downloads, and dashboards most people never asked for. The job is simple. The surrounding industry often is not.
SimpleQR is the CyganLabs answer to that: utility-grade, boring in the healthy way, and intentionally smaller than the problem people keep trying to build around it.
What it does
- Generates QR codes for URLs and plain text.
- Lets you adjust size, colors, and error correction.
- Downloads PNG files for practical reuse.
- Keeps the generated code direct instead of routing through a tracking service.
- Stays focused on the actual task instead of becoming a marketing platform.
SimpleQR vs. ShittyQR
ShittyQR exists because the internet is full of tools that make simple jobs worse for no good reason. SimpleQR is the sincere counterpoint: the same basic category, but without the parody.
Use SimpleQR when you need a clean, direct QR code. Use ShittyQR when you want the joke version, or when you need a reminder that product decisions can turn even tiny tasks into obstacle courses.
What it does not try to be
SimpleQR is not a dynamic QR subscription platform, analytics product, link-management system, CRM add-on, or engagement product. It is a square with data in it, and that is already useful enough.
If you need campaign tracking or editable destination links, this is probably not the tool. If you need a direct code you can understand and reuse, it is.
Current status
SimpleQR is live at qr.cyganlabs.com. It is part project page, part tool page: a small finished utility with a very narrow job and no interest in becoming a platform.
The next improvement would be modest on purpose: better export polish, maybe a few more practical presets, and not much else. Small tools are better when they do one job clearly and stay out of the way.
